Boral wanted to mark its 70th anniversary in a unique way and bring its story to life for its employees, partners and shareholders.
We have a long-standing partnership with Boral, and produce a range of corporate communications for the building materials company, including the internal magazine Boral News. To bring the company’s rich history to life, we suggested adding an ‘experiential’ component to the anniversary issue in the form of an augmented reality activation.
We developed a facility whereby, using the Viewa app, users can scan the magazine cover image with their phones to trigger an augmented reality experience and unlock a video. The video then plays on their phones, telling the story – through images – of Boral in Australia and the US over the past 70 years. Users can also share the video on social media.
Anecdotal evidence and analysis of downloads suggest that the campaign has been effective in engaging Boral employees, shareholders and partners, allowing them to discover more about the company’s history through an immersive and interactive experience.
