Katrina Pitkin

Design Director

How has your career developed since you started work?
Since studying Visual Communication at UTS, I’ve had a passion for beautiful typography. This was further developed in my first job as a designer for a top corporate design firm working on projects for many of Australia’s top 100 companies. At BWD, I’m fortunate to be working alongside a team of talented writers which enables me to integrate my passion for typography into design solutions.

What’s your idea of creative communications?
Working collaboratively to ensure the language is right for the design, and striving for clear communication that looks gorgeous! The creative process at the beginning of each job is always fun. It’s a chance to immerse myself in inspiring books, art, words, music … so many things can spark a great idea.

What do you do when you’re not at work?
Catch up with family and friends. I love browsing interior design stores, from vintage style to sleek and minimal. I get withdrawal symptoms if I haven’t seen a good film in a while (complete with gelato), and I’m a devoted Yogi.
